We are seeking a Credit Manager to join a growing SME in the Finance Sector. The role will focus on managing the lending panel and internally underwriting SME finance applications from the Sales team and place with the most appropriate Lender.

The company is an award-winning business that provides clear, fair and effective finance to a wide variety of SME & professional organisations for projects from £10k to £1 m plus. Fully authorised and regulated by the FCA, they have access to a panel of more than 50 funders to be able to offer the most appropriate finance solution. Above all, they listen and understand the commercial requirements of their clients and can deal with simple requirements to complex projects with phased drawdowns and bespoke payment structures.

Main responsibilities:

 Manage lending panel:

  • Review, analyse and refine credit proposals from Sales, requesting additional information where applicable
  • Select where business is placed, on a strategic and operational level, to optimise rates, approval ratios and response times
  • Speak/meet with key clients to assist with credit approvals for more quirky/challenging deals
  • Agree trading terms with new lenders/review terms with existing, including rates, volume bonuses, end of term and extension rental splits
  • Matrix manage administrative support
  • Prepare for and attend lender review meetings
  • Create and update funder matrix detailing appetite, rates, products, doc fees, margin splits, EOT etc.


  • Responsible for FCA/DPA compliance

Own book lending:

  • Assist the Directors in defining and refining credit policies
  • Underwrite own book deals
  • Assist the Directors to improve systems to allow effective underwriting
  • Assist the Directors with sourcing and managing wholesale/block facilities


  • Reporting and analysis of portfolio to assist with current and new funder relations


Candidate Requirements:

  • Ideally you will have relevant experience in the finance sector and be looking to enhance or develop your skillset with a growing company
  • Numerate and analytical with good problem-solving ability
  • Ability to focus and work under pressure
  • High attention to detail
  • Good computer skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Proactive and positive approach
  • Ability to work well independently and with team members

 Job details:

  • A remote, work from home position with some attendance in Tunbridge Wells office for training, meetings etc.
  • Hours of work will be 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday / flexibility
  • 20 days plus bank holidays
